Thapelo Fanny Lepati is a 47 years old male patient that was diagnosed with susceptible TB in 2017 and started on treatment. Unfortunately, his 23 weeks sputum tested positive and his outcome was treatment failure. He was supposed to start  treatment again, but never went back to the health facility, and was lost to follow up.

Mosamaria, funded by the USAID TB South Africa Project, successfully traced him at home and he was taken to the health facility since he was very ill and frail. He was initiated on treatment and placed under DOT support and received food parcels and vegetable seeds. The  Community Health Worker visited him even on weekends to make sure that he takes his medication which shows dedication, passion and a love for the community.

Mosamaria is  happy to announce that Thapelo completed his treatment and that both his 7th and 23rd week sputum tests were negative. Through dedicated DOT support and continuous counselling Thapelo managed to beat TB!
